Building an Economic Shield Together

Welcome to my latest—and most meaningful—project.

I am a firm believer in pragmatism. I believe that when everyday people are faced with tough times, they can find practical ways to cope, adapt, and lift one another up. Right now, so many hard-working families are feeling the squeeze of rising costs, inflation, and economic uncertainty. There is no “Knight in Shining Armor” coming to save us. We have to band together, pool our resilience, and build the solutions ourselves.

Rooted in Human Resilience

My drive to support under-resourced communities and minorities comes directly from my own family history. I was born during WWII inside an American concentration camp. My Dad got us an early release on the condition we relocate to Colorado. We were given $75 ($25 for each one of us), as well as a free bus ticket. ut there was no work in Denver, so my grandpa sent us enough money to get back to Seattle, and we moved into his crowded Pool Hall Storefront.

Growing up in that storefront was an ambivalent experience. My Grandpa had two beautiful Brunswick 9-Footers in the front room, and 4 mysterious card tables (speakeasy style) in the back room. He also had two cool penny pinball machines, a Wurlitzer juke box, and all kinds of cool candies and snacks. I was just a little kid, barely three and a half feet tall, so my grandfather built me a custom wooden box with a leather strap so I could drag it around and rack the pool tables for a nickel a game. On the weekends, I got to watch legendary musicians and entertainers play 9-ball ring games against my dad and uncle,s.

But life after WWII little was incredibly tough. Prejudice was a harsh reality on the streets and in the classrooms. As a scrawny kid with an attitude, I was constantly chased and knocked around. At 6 years old I ended up in the hospital after being beaten by a baseball bat. The local community faced constant hostility, and the deep divisions of that era left a lasting mark.

Decades later, seeing history threaten to repeat itself crosses a deeply personal red line. As citizens, we have a responsibility to learn from the past so we never duplicate its dark chapters. That is why I am so deeply committed to creating safeguards for the vulnerable today.

The Pilot Project: Lifelines for Financial Security

I am not a wealthy corporate executive; I am a lifelong worker who knows what it means to grind. Recently, I came into a windfall from the sale of my late parents’ home. Rather than letting that legacy sit idle, I have chosen to use these funds to plant seeds of financial security for deserving people who just need a fair break.

My goal is to fully finance a pilot program that creates reliable, flexible, work-from-home second jobs for up to 10 individuals. These roles are specifically designed to generate the extra income families need to stay stable during chaotic economic times.

Building Together

Growing up in Seattle, I was always amazed at how many Korean immigrants were able to open high quality restaurants. A friend explained that about a dozen established owners had formed an investment club. They pooled their money and lent it to new members to help them get started. I’ve always thought that was a brilliant idea, and I intend to build something like it here.
